The "Fibia"???
I came home early from work today. I was (am) feeling very under the weather. I took a long nap this afternoon, then got up early this evening to reposition myself on the couch.
After arranging my plethora of pillows into a suitable approximation of a La-Z-Boy recliner, I started clicking through the channels on cable to see if anything interesting was on.
Basketball! I generally enjoy a good basketball game. ESPN was covering the NBA game between the Spurs and the Jazz. At the top of the game, the television analysts presented their scripted pre-game synopses. Hubie Brown and Mark Jones talked about recent games, about the upcoming All-Star game, and then discussed the Spurs and Jazz teams specifically.
Mark Jones: "The Jazz are devastated by the news that their All-Star candidate, Carlos Boozer, will likely miss 4 to 5 weeks with a hairline fracture of his fibia..."
His what???? I've never heard of the "fibia". Is that the little bone in your nose which grows when you tell a lie?
I immediately turned off the TV and decided to blog instead. I'm tired of institutions like Fox news, CNN and now even ESPN not only treating us like idiots, but actually portraying their own idiocy so blatantly.
Now that most of the little bit of "good" TV is available on the internet, I think we can all agree that the television format as we know it is basically dead. The combo of DVR and the internet, delectable like chocolate and peanut butter, has rendered morons like Sean Hannity and Mark Jones even more irrelevant than they already were.
