Mt. Si Relay 2006
Yesterday, Seattle emerged abruptly from a long, gloomy winter by posting 70 degree temp and clear blue skies.
I marked the occasion by running a 57 mile relay race with four co-workers.
The Mt. Si Relay consists of ten legs spanning a course which begins in Snoqualmie, heads north to Tolt, then south through North Bend and up to Rattlesnake Lake, then back to Snoqualmie. Each of us ran two of the 10 total legs. It was a gloriously sunny day and I had a lot of fun with the laid back atmosphere and incorporation of teamwork into a sport which is normally done solo. Thanks to Robin, Ryan, Tom and Chris for joining me in this adventure! I'm looking forward to next year's relay already.
Our team ("The eProjectors") finished 31st place overall and fourth place in our division (male-corporate), and missed third place by six seconds.

Personal training notes:
I ran legs #2 and #7:
Leg #2: 5.6 miles, 44:02 (7:51 pace), avg HR=175 (first .8 miles steep uphill, then generally flat)
Leg #7: 7.3 miles, 1:02:33 (8:34 pace), avg HR=176 (first 2 miles flat, then 5.3 uphill to Rattlesnake Lake; had a headwind)
